Ann Schiele, PhD, RN, is president and dean of Mount Carmel College of Nursing, which has one the largest baccalaureate nursing programs in the state of Ohio. Providing nursing education for more than a century, Mount Carmel offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program; a Master of Science (MS) program with three tracks - Adult Health, Nursing Administration, and Nursing Education; an On-line Nurse Refresher Program and a Dietetic Internship Program, among other programs.
Dr. Schiele, who was the driving force in transitioning Mount Carmel from a Diploma program to a fully accredited College in 1990, has been recognized as one of central Ohio’s leading women---receiving the YWCA Women of Achievement Award for her outstanding accomplishments in the field of higher education and nursing.
She received her PhD in Higher Education Administration from the Ohio State University as well her Master's degree and Bachelor's Degree, both in Nursing. She holds leadership roles in numerous professional organizations including the Central Ohio Breathing Association (COBA), Maryhaven, Inc., and Children’s Hunger Alliance, and is active with the Ohio Council of Deans and Directors, The Ohio Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Higher Education Council of Columbus, the National League for Nursing, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
