1. Why should I seek a Master's Degree?

3. Is Mount Carmel College of Nursing accredited?
Yes, Mount Carmel College of Nursing is accredited by The Higher Learning
Commission: North Central Association of College and Schools. Our Master-level program is authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents.
4. When are classes held?
Classes for the program will be scheduled all day Wednesdays. Practicums are precepted experiences that are scheduled with the student, preceptor and faculty.
5. Can you attend the program on a full-time and part-time basis?
Yes, students may pursue either part-time or full-time study.
6. What is considered full-time?
A minimum of six semester hour will be considered full-time.
7. Are you required to take the GRE?
No GRE testing is required.
8. What are the program admission requirements?
Applicants for the Masters program must meet the following admissions
criteria:
- Applicants must have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program; by either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
- Current unrestricted Ohio RN license
- Pre-requisites: Undergraduate research and statistics
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in a baccalaureate nursing program
** Students who are admitted with an undergraduate cumulative grade
point average of less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (2.75-2.99), may
be admitted conditionally until the first 9 credit hours of graduate work
are completed with a 3.0 grade point average. After the first 9 hours
are completed, the student’s progress will be reviewed for regular
admission status. A student may be asked to withdraw if the GPA is
less than 3.0.
- Minimum TOEFL score of 550 for international applicants
9. Are there any additional requirements I must meet?
Upon acceptance to the graduate program, applicants to the nursing program must also have a current CPR certification and professional liability insurance, a criminal background check and a completed health form.
10. When do you accept application?
Admission applications are accepted for Fall Semester, Winter Semester and
Summer Session.
11. What is the application deadline?
We encourage admission materials should be submitted at least two months prior to the semester the student plans to begin studies
12. When will my application be considered?
Your application can be considered when all of the following information has
been provided:
- Complete application form
- $30 application fee
- Official transcripts from all previous academic work
- Current resume
- Statement of career goals, objectives and plans for graduate study; and
- Three letters of recommendation from professional associates including at least one reference from a faculty member in your undergraduate nursing program (if a recent graduate)
13. Am I able to transfer any credits from another graduate program?
Students may transfer a maximum of six credits of equivalent coursework, with a grade "B" or higher, from another graduate program.
