Course Description
We have a flexible enrollment option where a student may start the course at any time. After receiving the registration form and payment, the student will be enrolled in the course usually within 10 business days.
The course comprises:
- Online theory instruction
- Assigned reading
- 100 hours of clinical experience with an RN preceptor (Clinical experience is optional unless required by the student's State Board of Nursing)
Instruction is provided through assigned readings; online assignments, discussions with online faculty, study guides, precepted clinical hospital experience and web link content review.
Didactic (theoretical) instruction focuses on acquiring information through reading, and applying the information thus attained. The theory portion of the course is an independent study designed to be completed online within 16 weeks. Students may start the course at any time after registration and fees are received. This portion of the course is available from your PC.
Students will contract with local area hospitals to serve as sites for the precepted clinical experience component of the course. Requirements for participation will be determined by the individual hospital. Hospital mandated orientation time does not count toward the 100 hours of precepted clinical practice. The College will do everything possible to help you secure a precepted clinical experience, however clinical placement is not a guaranteed component of the course. It is recommended that clinical arrangements are secured prior to starting the didactic portion of the course.
The cost of the online section of the course is $700. Required textbooks may cost up to $250. There is no charge for the clinical aspect of the course.
