Mount Carmel College of Nursing, in collaboration with Mount Carmel Health System and Trinity Health, provides counseling services to our students via Carebridge. A referral to Carebridge is necessary and can be obtained by speaking to Laura Lawrence (Student Health Nurse) or Colleen Cipriani (Director of Student Life). Students can also speak with individual faculty members who then can forward the student to either of the above individuals. Students are entitled to six free visits with a counselor.
Carebridge provides personal counseling to the student and their household members. The counselors are all master’s prepared professionals who can help the student or family member with:
- Marital Relationships
- Substance Abuse
- Grief and Loss
- Stress Management
- Parent/Child Relationships
- Difficult Emotional Issues
The process to reach a therapist is simple—obtain a referral through Laura or Colleen who will give the student a telephone number to reach the Carebridge answering system. The secretary will ask where the student lives, so that a counselor can be located in an area that is easily accessed by the student. Then the counselor will call the student directly (ideally within 24 hours) to set up an appointment with the student. If the therapist thinks that the student will need more than 6 visits, longer therapy can be arranged, but the student will have to pay any co-payments associated with their insurance.
