On October 1, Mount Carmel alumni and MCCN students finished setting up the food and fun before alumni and friends arrived to enjoy one another’s company, good food and great weather at a tailgate before the OSU Buckeyes vs. Rutgers game. Stay tuned for information about next year’s date, as we plan our tailgate gathering for the fall 2017 football season!
While attending an American Association of Colleges of Nursing Conference in Washington D.C. in October, Christine Wynd, PhD, RN, MCCN president (second from left) and Tara Spalla, PhD, RN, MCCN academic dean (not pictured), were delighted to meet and visit with three alumni. They are (from right to left): Major William B. "Brad" Marsh, BSN, RN, CEN, CHCIO-Eligible, a 2011 Second Degree Accelerated Program (SDAP) graduate; Marie C. Blain, RN, NREMT-P, a 1961 Diploma graduate; and Oluwatoyin "Toyin" Akinyemi, BSN RN CNOR, a 2009 SDAP graduate. The evening was spent sharing information on the College, the alums' career paths since graduation and memories while at Mount Carmel.
As you may have read in the Fall 2016 issue, the Lamp, the help of our alumni in representing Mount Carmel at various college fairs across the state – including one close to your own home – is very much appreciated. According to Kim Campbell, PhD, director of Enrollment Management, when prospective students get to talk with a member of the alumni, it makes a huge difference. Training will be provided and, although the greatest need is in the fall, Debbie Boggs (’75), RN, director, Alumni Relations, would like to hear from you now.
