Colton Clay decided that he wanted to be a nurse when he was still in high school. As a teenager, Clay was often ill and credits the healthcare professionals who helped him to get well as the main reason for his career choice. With a sister who is also in healthcare, Colton had a lot of resources available to help him make his choice. He chose Mount Carmel because of his Christian background and his desire to serve others.
He is grateful for his scholarships that relieved him of financial stress and allowed him the experiences that he has had at MCCN. “They have allowed me to focus on my schooling instead of having to worry about finances. With the aid that I received, I have been able to be more flexible, which is definitely reflected in my grades.” Colton’s fondest memory at MCCN is his Sophomore Pinning ceremony, where it “all started” for him. He is grateful to work in direct patient care now and to be able to “pursue such a noble profession.”
