July 16, 2010 Mount Carmel Leadership: Congratulations to several Mount Carmel physician partners who received recognition during Columbus Business First newspaper’s 2010 “Health Care Heroes” awards program yesterday! Martha Reigel, M.D., Chairwoman of the MCE Department of Surgery and a Mount Carmel HealthProviders vascular surgeon, was the “Health Care Heroes” honoree in the Provider Category. She was honored for championing the implementation of Crew Resource Management at Mount Carmel. Med Lutmerding, M.D., an emergency medicine physician in the MCW Emergency Department and a member of the Central Ohio Trauma System (COTS) Board of Trustees, received an honorable mention in the Manager Category. He was recognized for his role helping lead the COTS task force that developed an Emergency Patient Transport Plan to address ED diversions. David Sabgir, M.D., a Mount Carmel HealthProviders cardiologist who primarily practices at MCSA, received an honorable mention in the Provider Category. He was recognized for his “Walk With A Doc” program which encourages people to exercise. Two other Mount Carmel physician partners were nominated for “Health Care Heroes” awards—orthopedic surgeons Keith Berend, M.D., and Adolph Lombardi Jr., M.D., who primarily practice at MCNA. Both were nominated for their participation in Operation Walk, a non-profit volunteer medical services organization that provides free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries. Also attached is a Mount Carmel ad featuring these physicians that was published in a special Business First supplement about the “Health Care Heroes” awards program. Please join me in congratulating all of these physicians for receiving this deserved recognition! Claus von Zychlin |
