Welcome, future nurse!

Starting your journey as a nursing student at Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN) is an exciting time and we are here to make that process seamless and enjoyable.

There will be a few events this summer you will need to attend in order to prepare yourself for your first year at MCCN.

Please add the following programs to your calendar, as they are mandatory for all new incoming students to both Columbus and Fairfield Medical Center campuses:

SmartStart Orientation and Convocation

Do you want to get a Jump Start on your academic success here at MCCN? Think about attending one of the Jump Start Boot Camp sessions.

To do before New Student Orientation

  • RSVP online for New Student Orientation by July 7 using the link you received in your invitation.
  • Schedule your physical and immunizations through your physician’s office and upload the information to CastleBranch by July 30, 2017. Download pdf here.
  • Order your textbooks from the online bookstore once you have attended your Information and Registration session.
  • Pay your Fall Semester tuition and fees by August 7, 2017.
  • Start MCCN classes the week of August 16, 2017.
  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Find us on Facebook at “Mount Carmel College of Nursing”.
  • Join the Class of 2021 Facebook group!
  • Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

To bring to New Student Orientation

  • Family Member/Support Person – MCCN strongly encourages students to bring somebody to support him/her with their transition.
  • Your questions! – New Student Orientation is the best place to get any questions you may have answered.
  • Notebook – There will be many sessions where you will want to take notes.
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes – You will be doing a lot of walking around! You want to make sure you are comfortable. Our buildings are air conditioned, so we suggest that you bring a sweater or sweatshirt in case you get cold.
  • Driving directions to campus – These can be found here. Our address is 127 S. Davis Avenue, Columbus, OH 43222.
  • Your phone – Students will be asked to participate in social media activities (if you have social media accounts) so please bring your phone and join the conversation.

The RSVP deadline for the New Student Orientation is July 7, 2017. Please call 614-234-5828 if you have any questions or need assistance.

Please register online below before the deadline to secure your spot at orientation. Be sure to include any family member you may be bringing.

MCCN Orientation will be held on August 9. Future students will attend sessions that will cover everything there is to know about Mount Carmel College of Nursing.

Parents or support persons are welcome to attend. Students must indicate how many guests they are bringing, plus and dietary requests in the form below.

MCCN pre-registers students for first semester classes and requires each student to attend an Information and Registration Session and a Testing Session during the summer. These sessions include:

  1. General overview of new student information
  2. Financial aid and tuition/fees information
  3. Accessing MCCN email and the Student Portal
  4. Review your first semester schedule with a registration advisor
  5. Textbook and bookstore information
  6. Test of Essential Academic Skills and Critical Thinking Assessment

Records and Registration Checklist

  • After you receive the letter from the Director of Records and Registration, call promptly to reserve
    • A date to attend one of the Information and Registration Sessions
    • A date to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills and Critical Thinking Assessment
  • Request your final high school transcript to be sent to MCCN Admissions by July 7, 2017
  • If you are a transfer student, request your final official college transcript showing Spring Semester grades be sent to MCCN Admissions by July 7, 2017
  • Schedule your physical and immunizations through your physician’s office to complete your required MCCN health record prior to July 30, 2017.
  • After you receive your course schedule at the Information and Registration Session, order your textbooks from the online bookstore
  • If you are an entering sophomore or junior student, register for the appropriate CPR class

Living on Campus

If you will be living on campus in one of our student residence halls, be sure to visit Campus Living page for important information and see our checklist for what you’ll need to bring with you. The official move-in day is Tuesday, August 1, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.. If you are unable to move in at that time, please call for an appointment. On Campus Dining

We have a few places on campus for students to grab something to eat on the go, including Charlie’s Java Jolt, Tim Horton’s, Sbarro’s and the Mount Carmel West Hospital Cafeteria. A discount is provided at the cafeteria with a student ID badge. There is also a kitchen for student use available in the Recreation Room.

Student Activities/Organizations

Student involvement is a great way for students to make new friends, expand their resumes and learn valuable lessons about working with others. MCCN offers a range of opportunities for students to get involved. Check out our College Organizations page and find the right fit for you!

MCCN welcomes students from all backgrounds and walks of life, including students of all races and genders, first generation college students, students who are single parents, students with varying religious practices and beliefs, students who must work full time and students whose financial situations may otherwise prevent them from obtaining higher education.

Academic Calendar

Make sure to check out the 2017-18 Academic Calendar before your first day of classes and mark important dates on your calendar.


MCCN has a full-time IT staff available for students with technical questions or difficulties. IT will have a table present at SmartStart Orientation to help students set up their CarmeLink and Nightingmail accounts.
