Mount Carmel College of Nursing’s accelerated online Post-Graduate Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Certificate Program is designed for experienced Advanced Practice Nurses. Eligible APRN’s are those with at least 12 months of experience as an APRN who are currently working in primary care, women’s health, pediatric, rehabilitation, outpatient, and/or emergency room settings that hold an active, unrestricted APRN license.

These advanced professionals are typically employed in primary care, ambulatory, outpatient, urgent care, emergency care, and rehabilitative settings to provide population-based care across the health care continuum for the purpose of restoring individuals to their maximal health potential. The program is offered fully online.

The Post-Graduate Certificate Program will meet the professional standards set forth by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty. In only two semesters, (20 semester hours) you will be eligible for your certification as an Family Nurse Practitioner.

Online (Accelerated) Post-Master’s Certificate Family Nurse Practitioner classes begin Fall Term and Spring Term.

Transfer Credit

For those students who already hold a national nurse practitioner certification and seek a second nurse practitioner area of focus, their transcripts will be evaluated for clinical practicum hours and courses. Our FNP nurse practitioner programs require the attainment of 500 clinical practicum hours. National FNP certification exams require a minimum of 500 clinical practicum hours.

Program Completion

The certificate program is approximately 2 semesters in length depending on the candidate’s transfer credit. However, all students must successfully complete specialty track coursework, achieve 650 clinical practicum hours and maintain a 3.0 GPA to earn a program certificate.
