FMC’s new nursing school director comes full circle

LANCASTER - Cora Arledge is now running the program that led her to a love of nursing almost 10 years ago.

The new program coordinator of Mount Carmel College of Nursing's satellite program at Fairfield Medical Center was once a student in the program herself, part of the first graduating class.

Cora Arledge first moved to Lancaster with her husband over 25 years ago.

"We moved here in 1992, the year we got married," she said. "We stopped here out of convenience, but we stayed because we love it."

In high school, she didn't have a whole lot of direction and wasn't sure what she wanted to do when she grew up. She did, at an early age, have an interest in nursing but wasn't sure how to articulate it. Her family wanted her to go to a four-year school and at the time, baccalaureate nursing programs were not common.
