Mount Carmel College of Nursing Appoints New Chair and Four New Members to Board of Trustees
Columbus, OH — Mount Carmel College of Nursing announces the appointment of a new chair and four new members to the Mount Carmel College of Nursing Board of Trustees, effective February 2016.
Michael Kennedy, JD, who has served on the Board since 2010, is named chair, succeeding continuing Board member Matthew Mazza, who has completed his term in office. Kennedy, who earned his JD at Case Western Reserve University, recently retired from Cardinal Health where he served as senior vice president, Ethics and Compliance. Kennedy also serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Center for Business Excellence at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
Don DePerro, president and CEO, Columbus Chamber of Commerce, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from State University of New York College at Buffalo. He also serves or has served on the boards of the American Cancer Society, Recreation Unlimited, Action for Children, The Columbus Foundation, Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Columbus. DePerro is former president and publisher, Columbus Business First.
Diane L. Habash, PhD, RDN, is clinical associate professor, Medical Dietetics, The Ohio State University (OSU) School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She also is associate director for OSU’s Center for Integrative Health & Wellness. Dr. Habash earned her PhD, RDN (registered dietitian nutritionist) and master’s degrees from The Ohio State University; she earned a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. Dr. Habash also serves on the boards of The Breathing Association and Physician’s Free Clinic; she is a volunteer dietitian at Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
Charles Sanders, Jr., MD, FACP, FACR, a rheumatologist, is vice president, Medical Education & Research, Mount Carmel Health System, and assistant dean for Medical Education, The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Sanders, who earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, and a bachelor’s degree at Purdue University School of Pharmacy, also serves on the advisory board of African American Leadership Academy in Columbus. He has served on a number of boards in Indiana and, before that, in the state of Delaware.
Linda Stoverock, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, is senior vice president, Patient Care Services and CNO (chief nursing officer) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She earned her DNP (doctor of nursing practice) from the Ohio State University, and MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) in administration from Saint Louis University, Missouri.

Wynd, PhD, RN, who is ex officio member of the Board. “We thank Matt Mazza for his having served chair and are grateful for his continuing presence as a board member.
