What inspired you to become a nurse educator, and what do you love about it?
Being a nurse preceptor on the floor, I saw gaps in education, and I wanted to teach nursing students to fill the gaps. I love the process of students arriving and watching their improvement in such a small amount of time, since the Second Degree Accelerated Program is so short. I have been a part of the SDAP program for 7 years and I have met so many amazing teachers at Mount Carmel College of Nursing. I always feel supported by all of them.
What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?
The best thing about MCCN is having great affiliations with three big hospitals in the area where we can make strong connections with the staff, and the students can be received with open arms.
What is the best nursing advice you would like to share?
Treat the patient the way you'd want your loved one to be treated. Also, do it for the passion, not for the money. This will affect the patient and your own well-being.
