Nickname: Kat

Hometown: Toledo

I can’t live without… family, friends and TV.

If I could spend the day with one person it would be… Dorothy Dandridge (after my family).

If I could travel anywhere, I would go to… out west on a cattle drive.

When I have down time, I… read historical fiction, study genealogy, scrapbook for my children and shop estate sales.

My favorite movie is… The Color Purple.

The quote I tend to live by is… “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

My favorite thing to do in Columbus is… explore historical sites, cemeteries, Underground Railroad sites and eat out!

I embrace diversity in my everyday life by… treating people with compassion and understanding.

MLK Day and Black History Month represent… appreciation and gratitude for the sacrifices others have made that have impacted my life and the triumph of accomplishment others have achieved despite the odds against them.

The best piece of advice I have ever been given was… kindness matters – pass it on. You are always better than you think you are.

The coolest thing that has ever happened to me was… meeting/having dinner with Jacob Lawrence and Barack Obama, meeting family through genealogy research and climbing the Cape of Good Hope.

One thing you may not know about me is… I like to write movie scripts (no one is buying them).
