I can’t live without: My support system

If I could spend the day with one person it would be: My great grandma Penrod

If I could travel anywhere, I would go to: Bangkok, Thailand

When I have down time, I: Play with my pets and spend time with friends and family

My favorite movie is: Hidden Figures

The quote I tend to live by is: “When we end our silence, when we speak in our liberated voice, our words connect us with anyone, anywhere who lives in silence.” –Bell Hooks

I am a nurse educator because: I love working with nursing students and being able to be a part in their growth and development as young adults and nurses. It’s also rewarding to hear when students feel empowered and have prioritized their own wellbeing, in part because of my contributions as a teacher. In a broad sense, I believe that I can help patients by helping students on their journey towards becoming empathetic, caring, and critical-thinking nurses.

The best advice I could give to incoming freshmen is: The first year of college is a tough adjustment period, there’s a lot of new stress and responsibility but also a lot of excitement and new opportunity. Take advantage of the opportunities to expand your support system and take some time to self-reflect.

One thing you may not know about me is: I love to cook and really have an appreciation for creative food!
