Rho Omicron General Meeting Recap

Rho Omicron welcomed members and guests to the February 19 general membership meeting where they enjoyed networking, lunch and an engaging presentation by MCCN faculty members Patty Severt, MSN, RN, instructor and Amanda Page, MFA, assistant professor. Their presentation centered on an integrity project in which they had collaborated: "Building Integrity into Nursing Curriculum and Culture." They presented the background for their project that was based on asking the question, "What kind of nurse will a person be if he/she cheats in nursing school?" Results were presented from their literature review that concurs that the dishonest behavior will transfer into the professional realm. Types of dishonest behavior were presented as well as recommendations from the literature to deter dishonest behavior. After the presentation, faculty members were given the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. This promoted a rich and vibrant discussion among faculty, staff, and deans. From this presentation, a meeting was requested of Patty and Amanda by the president to develop this project into the next phase of planning and implementation. Additionally, faculty asked that this wonderful and thought-provoking presentation be given at other faculty meetings. Patty and Amanda want to say, “Thank you Rho Omicron for this wonderful opportunity!”
