Looking to pursue a career in nursing? Mount Carmel College of Nursing offers an SDAP that allows you to graduate in as little as 13 months. If you currently have a Bachelor's degree and meet the following admission requirements, you can earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within a convenient time frame. This program is designed for full-time students and requires 40 hours per week.

Admission Requirements

The Second Degree Accelerated Program is highly competitive. We ​accept between sixty and seventy students to begin in January and August of each year.​ ​All prospective students must have the following requirements before submitting an application:

  • Completion of a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited institution.†
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is recommended (not required).
  • Successful completion of all prerequisite course work, with a grade of "C" or better. A ‘C-’ will not be accepted.
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology I*
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology II*
    • Microbiology*
    • Organic Biochemistry*
    • Human Nutrition*
    • Statistics
    • Human Growth & Development
    • Comparative Religions
    • English Composition
    • General Psychology
    • Introduction to Sociology
    • 5 Semester hours of Humanities/Social Science electives
  • TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (new internet-based) for students whose native language is not English.

† If the college degree is earned from an institution of higher education outside of the United States, the applicant must contact the World Education Services and have a transcript evaluation completed and mailed to MCCN. * Courses must be completed within five (5) years of enrollment to receive credit.

** Science courses taken 5 or more years ago will not be accepted as transfer credit.

Second Degree Accelerated Program- Hybrid (SDAP-H)

The SDAP-H is a more convenient degree option for those that would like to begin working towards their Bachelor of Science in Nursing while maintaining a work schedule or other obligations. The SDAP-H offers the same classes as the SDAP and you have the ability to graduate in 18 months.
