Don is from the Youngstown/Warren, Ohio area and has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Youngstown State University. He moved to Columbus to pursue a graduate degree in computer aided architecture at Ohio State, but ended up with a second bachelor’s degree in Russian language and literature instead. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in theology from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and an MBA/MIS from Franklin University. In June 2012 he refreshed his computer skills by earning an associate degree in web design and development from Columbus State. He graduated from Kent State University's Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program in August 2016. Don is a provisional member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) as designated by the Medical Library Association.

Although Don considers himself a professional student, he has worked in a wide variety of jobs including time as a computer consultant for an MR/DD group home, as a computer instructor, as a network specialist at OSU and at AT&T, as a Lutheran youth pastor, as a computer salesman for Dell Computers, as a customer service associate at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and as a freelance web designer. He came to Mount Carmel as a Genesis Physician Coach in April 2012. He is very thankful for his position at Mount Carmel Health Sciences Library as it seems like that rare, perfect opportunity to pull together much of his past learning and experiences. Working at a medical, academic, faith-based organization in a technology support position is a dream job for him!

Don is married to a gynecologist and has three children. He enjoys Cold War era history, fiction writing, trap shooting, snow skiing and kayaking.
