Dr. Joyce Zurmehly

Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN) is proud to announce the appointment of Joyce Zurmehly, PhD, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAAN, as its new Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. Dr. Zurmehly will officially begin her role on August 11, bringing with her a distinguished career in nursing education, leadership, and practice.

Dr. Zurmehly joins MCCN after eleven years at The Ohio State University, where she played a pivotal role in developing and leading the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Her academic career also includes faculty positions at Ohio University, Wright State University, and Wittenberg University. In addition to her academic achievements, she served as Director of Evidence-Based Practice at Adena Health System and led a nationally recognized “Transition to Practice” study for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

Dr. Zurmehly is the first to serve in this combined role as Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. “It feels like this was meant to be,” says Zurmehly. “I have a depth of experience in the allied health vocations, having developed programs, taught, and secured accreditations for those programs in previous positions. I’m comfortable in that space.”

MCCN President Todd Ambrosia, DNP, MSN, MBA, FNP-BC, FNAP, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment: “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Zurmehly to Mount Carmel College of Nursing. Her extensive expertise, leadership, and passion for nursing education will be an invaluable asset to our students, faculty, and the broader healthcare community.”
