Ann Marie Brooks

We are pleased to announce that in August Ann Marie T. Brooks, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, FACHE, FNAP, was appointed president, Mount Carmel College of Nursing. Dr. Brooks has served as interim since June 2017, and during that time she has led the College on undertaking a Journey to Transformation, which includes development of a comprehensive strategic plan to accommodate growth anticipated as a result of improvements to the campus, as well as enhancement and refinement of student services and degree programs offered. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Brooks!

On Thursday, August 9, MCCN’s Class of 2022 processed on campus to kick off Convocation and New Student Welcome festivities. A bagpiper led the way, while faculty members in full regalia stepped off with 188 new freshman and transfer students eagerly blazing a trail to answering life’s calling at MCCN to become professional nurses.

Join in us in “Celebrating Our Journey” on Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27!

Other degrees/certifications: I graduated from Franklin University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in December 1991. In 1995, I completed the Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Program at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, and I was certified as a Wound Ostomy Nurse in June 2000. I was honored to have received awards over the years, including: Nationwide Columbus Children's Hospital Surgical Nurse of the Year, 1991; Cameo for Caring Nominee, 2006; Distinguished Alumni Award, Mount Carmel College of Nursing, 2007; and the Dr. Terry Davis Safety Award, Pressure Ulcer Reduction Team in December 2016. My most recent presentation was at the 4th International Tracheostomy symposium in February 2018, where I presented “Multidisciplinary team approach for prevention of post-operative pediatric tracheostomy-related pressure wounds” and was honored to receive first place in the Pediatric presentation group.

Our weekend will begin on Friday as Alumni Relations has planned numerous events to kick off our celebration! As alumni, we have the honor of touring Mount Carmel Grove City prior to its opening. (Note: some areas are still under construction and may not be wheelchair accessible; hardhats, goggles, vests will be distributed, and flat, close-toed shoes are required. RSVPs are required.) The day will also offer one last opportunity to tour Mount Carmel West before all inpatient services are relocated to Grove City. Come meet up with classmates and fellow alumni to share memories, as well as career paths and personal milestones! Please watch the College website www.mccn.edu and the Mount Carmel Alumni Association Facebook page for updates on the weekend plans. Friday, October 26, events are listed below:

Other degrees/certifications: I earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Dschang, Cameroon, and I am certified in Basic Life Support (BLS). I also have Servsafe, Food and Beverage Safety and Restaurant Department Management certifications.

Professional Highlights: I have been working just over a year on the cardiovascular progressive care unit at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, and I would say this past year has been filled with a lot of learning and professional development. I look forward to the next few years, because I am sure there is still much for me to learn about myself and about nursing.
