Message from the President & Academic Dean

Kathleen Williamson

Dear MCCN Faculty, Staff and Students,

Happy New Year!

I hope you all enjoyed the recent break and found safe and happy ways to celebrate your holidays. With 2020 now behind us, I am feeling hopeful for this brand new year and hope you are as well.

We’re starting this year off right by hosting a virtual pinning ceremony on Sunday, January 10, at 2 p.m. for our sophomore students. Mark your calendars to participate in this important event signifying students’ start to direct patient care. Family and friends can watch the ceremony live on Zoom and it will be recorded and shared more broadly afterwards. To all those students receiving their pin, please accept my sincere congratulations as you mark this milestone in your nursing education. We are proud of you!

As we continue to look forward in the new year, I’m especially grateful for the progress with vaccines and treatments for COVID-19 and the hope that the end of the pandemic is in sight, maybe just months away now. I can see a day in the not-too-distant future when we welcome everyone back to campus, conduct more classes, labs and celebrations in-person and get back to a generally more normal and interactive version of life and school. Until then, let’s continue to be vigilant against this virus, heed the safety precautions and protocols to stay healthy, and support each other as best we can.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Williamson, PhD, MSN, RN
President & Academic Dean, Mount Carmel College of Nursing
