Assistant Professor – Second Degree Accelerated Program & Mount Carmel College of Nursing Alumna

What inspired you to become a nurse?

Nursing has been my chosen profession since an early age, inspired by witnessing my father's myocardial infarction when I was 12 years old. Over the past 25 years, I have gained extensive experience as a nurse, and for the last decade, I have served as an educator in the field. I am deeply committed to teaching and view it as an immensely rewarding aspect of my career.

What do you love about teaching?

Observing students develop throughout their coursework is highly rewarding, as they consistently become more proficient and enthusiastic about nursing. The curriculum is demanding and witnessing their compassionate and considerate interactions with patients is truly gratifying.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

The most outstanding aspect of MCCN is its strong sense of community. Educators hold students in high regard, and the small class sizes allow for focused attention on everyone’s needs. Every faculty member approaches their role with genuine dedication, viewing the education of future nurses as both a responsibility and a calling rather than merely a job.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I have received is encapsulated in the words of Winston Churchill: “Never, never, never give up. If you are going through hell, keep going.” During my master’s program, I experienced significant stress, and a respected faculty member shared this quote with me. By persevering through challenges, I achieved my goals and am grateful for that guidance.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

A career in nursing offers meaningful opportunities to make a significant impact on patients’ lives. Nurses are present during pivotal moments, from birth through end-of-life care, providing essential support and compassion. The contributions of nursing professionals can greatly affect the well-being and comfort of individuals throughout their healthcare experiences.
