Alumni Recruiting Future Alumni: We are working with the admissions office to assist with college fairs throughout the academic year. Located around the state, these fairs give Ohio alumni an opportunity to share face-to-face about MCCN and how our program prepared them for their careers! Who better to assist with recruitment than alumni? We will hold a brief training session so we are all on the same page with current information about the College. The training session will be available on-site at the main MCCN campus or, if needed, we will travel to your area. We have five alumni who have responded so far and hope to add more! Please contact Debbie Boggs ’75, RN, at dboggs@mccn.edu or by phone 614.234.5681 if you are interested or need more information.

Alumni Road Trips: Christine Wynd, PhD, RN, president, MCCN, is eager to meet you, hear about your Mount Carmel experiences and share her vision for the future of the College. Jan Burkey, director of Development, MCCN, and Debbie Boggs, RN, director of Alumni Relations, are planning trips to visit with alumni throughout Ohio – and possibly beyond. If you would like to host a get-together in your area, please contact Debbie at dboggs@mccn.edu or by phone at 614.234.5681. She can assist with locating other alumni in your area and with planning the event. Some alumni may be in groups that gather regularly, and we would love to have the opportunity to join you!

Freshman Orientation: Our freshman orientation for the traditional BSN program is scheduled for Thursday, August 13. Alumni play an important part in this special day! Your assistance is needed in the morning to welcome our students and again at noon. Please contact Debbie Boggs, RN, at dboggs@mccn.edu or by phone 614-234-5681 if you are interested in welcoming our students. Remember your first day?

Just in time for Graduation and Mother's Day shopping: Alumni Relations will be hosting a Peace-Love-Bling® event Monday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lounge/Lobby. This event is a fundraiser for Mount Carmel Alumni Relations, which will receive a portion of the proceeds. Peace-Love-Bling designs and sells genuine jewelry that is fabulous, ethically handcrafted and costs less than the "fake stuff." Please stop by and see the pearls, sterling silver and other beautiful, handcrafted pieces. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. Unable to attend? No worries, because you can shop anytime you like at www.peace-love-bling.com. Please enter the promotional code mcalum so that Mount Carmel Alumni Relations will receive a portion of the proceeds. These funds will be used for future alumni/student projects.

LeAnne Johnson Absalom is the founder and creative director of Peace-Love-Bling, which is located in the Ethical Arts Collective at 566 Rich Street, Columbus. LeAnne works closely with Amethyst Inc., employing women from Amethyst to work in her shop and at events. Since 1984, Amethyst has helped some of the most vulnerable women and children in the Columbus community. For further information about the fundraiser, contact the Alumni Relations office at (614) 234-5681.

Alum-A-Thon Virtual Fundraiser Continues for 2015!

Again this year, your phone will stop ringing “off the hook,” as, once again, the Alum-a-Thon Virtual Fundraiser will be held online and via mail, rather than by telephone.

Meeting fundraising goals will be a competition for Mount Carmel alumni, who are asked to give at least in the amount of their graduation year. Class standings will be announced periodically to keep classes motivated and working together. Over the past four years, the 50-year honor classes have challenged themselves to create a scholarship fund of their own. We hope that this year’s honor class, the Class of 1965, will continue the tradition.

The fundraising total, as well as final standings, will be announced at the homecoming event on October 24. More information will be released soon, so stay tuned! If you want to get involved, contact Jan Burkey at jburkey@mccn.edu or at (614) 234-3837.
