As the cold of winter and the warmth of the holiday season approaches, I extend sincere greetings to all Mount Carmel alumni on behalf of the faculty and staff of Mount Carmel College of Nursing!

I hope you enjoy this second edition of our new e-newsletter, ALUMnews. I’ve heard so many positive comments about our continued progress into this “digital age” and agree, it’s a great way to communicate news, events and updates. Please continue to send us your feedback!

MCCN stands on the cusp between two exciting years: 2013 – a year of record growth with 1,150 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled – marked the 110th Anniversary of our founding. Birthday Celebrations, held in September, were well attended, as was the Alumni Homecoming in October, when the first stage of our new History Mural (see article below) was unveiled.

For me, 2014 will be both exciting and bittersweet as I transition to President Emeritus status in July. It will be exciting to witness a new chapter of the history of the College unfold, as we welcome a new President/Dean this summer – to mark the beginning of our twelfth decade!

Together we’ll embrace this upcoming New Year—anticipating a promising and rewarding future, not only for MCCN, but for the profession of nursing as well. Happy reading … and Happy Holidays!

God bless,

Ann E. Schiele, PhD, RN, President/Dean
