In July 2014, Ann Schiele, PhD, RN, who has served as President/Dean, Mount Carmel College of Nursing since 1990, will transition to President/Dean Emeritus. In her 23 years at the helm, Ann has advised and encouraged students, supported and recognized faculty and staff, and advanced and promoted Mount Carmel’s reputation for excellence in nursing education. Over the 50 years Ann has been associated with Mount Carmel, she has been distinguished by her compassion, her work ethic and her deep love for this institution of higher learning – its history and its future.

The Schiele Endowment for Nursing Education has been established in Ann’s honor. The goal is to raise $500,000+ to fund the Endowment, which will provide scholarships and educational support for MCCN students. Everyone is respectfully invited to share in Ann’s legacy by making a gift to the Schiele Endowment for Nursing Education. Together, we can provide scholarships for MCCN students, monies for MCCN resources and funds for the development of new programs to enhance the high-quality of the College, thereby ensuring excellence in nursing education for generations to come. For giving opportunities, please contact Jan Burkey, Director of MCCN Fund Development, at jburkey@mccn.edu or 614-234-3837.

Our fundraising efforts will culminate on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Mount Carmel Foundation’s annual “Champagne and Diamonds” gala, where Ann will be honored for her exemplary service and her numerous contributions – tangible and intangible – to Mount Carmel College of Nursing over the years. Details about the event will be coming soon.
