What inspired you to become a nurse?

The driving force behind my aspiration to become a nurse emanates from my earnest desire to actively contribute to the unequivocal well-being of patients. My previous engagement in prehospital care as an EMS professional was undoubtedly rewarding and filled with exhilaration. However, my aspiration extends beyond that; I yearn to wield a more profound influence over the entire trajectory of a patient's journey. My voyage to the United States from Africa in 2015 marked a pivotal juncture in my life. This transition was accompanied by my father's transition from a role in the pharmaceutical realm, where his actions left a lasting impact on the lives of those he served, striving to enhance their quality of life. Regrettably, upon our relocation, he encountered barriers that prevented him from continuing his work in the same domain. In many ways, I find myself on a path to fulfill his cherished aspirations, carrying forward his legacy of making a tangible difference in people's lives.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

MCCN (Mount Carmel Nursing College) boasts a multitude of resources meticulously designed to pave the way for student success. The faculty members exhibit not only enthusiasm in their teaching but also a dedication to active involvement, extending their guidance beyond the confines of the classroom. Moreover, the Student Success Center stands ready to offer invaluable support through peer tutoring and SI sessions, enhancing the learning journey. Among the highlights of this program, I hold a special affinity for the seminar course titled "Operating Room." This exceptional offering grants students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic operating room environment, guided by skilled and enthusiastic instructors who provide hands-on experiences. A particularly commendable aspect of this course is that upon its successful completion, participants are rewarded with a certification that equips them to contribute effectively within the operating room setting. Such a provision is undeniably invaluable.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

My aspiration is to derive satisfaction from working at the bedside as a nurse until I attain a sense of both comfort and substantial expertise. Once I sense a craving for further knowledge and growth, my ambition is to transition into the role of a Registered Nurse Anesthetist (RNA).

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would offer counsel to my younger self, encouraging the cultivation of ambition and the cultivation of patience in pursuing life's objectives. I would advocate for embracing confidence as a shield against negativity.
