What inspired you to become a nurse?

I have always had a passion for the nursing field and looked up to my grandma working as a nurse when I was growing up. My dad was very supportive of me going into the nursing field because he also works in the healthcare field. My family has always encouraged me, and I’m very appreciative of them for helping me reach my goals.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

The best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing is the continuous support system and all the resources (peer tutoring, community learning, SI sessions, etc.). I struggle with anxiety in school, and I’m super grateful I picked a school that I’m able to get extra support for my mental health. I transferred from a big college, and I love the smaller class sizes at Mount Carmel.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

My goal for my nursing career is to be a NICU travel nurse, and I’m open to exploring other specialties in pediatrics. I love to travel and would love the opportunity to be able to see more of the world!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I was scared at first going into nursing school because I was always told how hard it is. Looking back, I’m glad I dedicated my time and focus to school because it was worth all the stressful times I had to face.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

Nursing school truly flies by, and it’s okay to not know what type of nursing specialization you’re interested in. You can always move around in the field, and you don’t have to stick to one type of nursing. Prioritizing your mental health as well is extremely important. Make sure to care of yourself because it can affect your focus in school.
