MCCN Second Degree Accelerated Program BSN Student

What inspired you to become a nurse?

I've always wanted to enter a profession that allows you to make a direct and meaningful impact on someone's life. The reward of helping someone who truly needs it never gets old, and I feel that nursing will provide me with an abundant supply of fulfillment.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

The people are the best thing. I've had and continue to have a wonderful time getting to know and build relationships with my peers and educators. There is a strong sense of community at MCCN, and the camaraderie that has cultivated amongst my cohort since the start of the program is very appealing to me.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

Because I still feel quite new to nursing, I haven't put much thought into what I want to accomplish. I'm approaching this entire process step-by-step, and at this moment, my priority goals are to graduate and pass the NCLEX. However, I've committed to retaining an open mind with everything that I have or will experience throughout this program, and by the end of this, I am certain that I will have more clarity and direction regarding my future.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be present in the moment. The destination is important to look forward to, but the journey and whom you journey with is what really matters.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

Desire to help people. If other motives are involved, I fear that the care provided to future patients will suffer and lack the core values needed to assume this profession.
