What inspired you to become a nurse?

I’ve always wanted to be a nurse, but after I had my daughter, I felt even more motivated to go back to school for nursing. The nurses I had during my labor were exceptional; they made me feel so cared for and were so kind, I truly felt like I was their only patient. I want to be able to do that for others as well. I want to be able to be there for patients when they may have no one else and make them feel cared for and that they matter.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

The best thing about MCCN I think is the class sizes. I went to OSU and the professor-to-student ratio was insane. Here the class sizes are small, making it easier to focus, and you have the opportunity for more face-to-face time with your professors.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

My goal is to be able to work in labor and delivery or in pediatrics. I love children and l believe helping bring them into the world, or being able to care for them and help them heal would be the most rewarding career.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

The advice I would give my younger self would be to believe more in myself. I am capable of so much more than I give myself credit for. If I set my mind to something, I can accomplish it.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

If you feel like you would like a career in nursing, pursue it. You may do better than you think you will and may never know where it could take you.
