Lead Health Sciences Librarian - Tech Services

What inspired you to choose your career path?

My Uncle Ron was a librarian for Cleveland Public Library, and he would bring books home to me when I was young. He talked about how much he liked helping people and took great pride in his job. After getting a degree in Journalism from Ohio State University, I worked for many non-profit arts groups. I loved that work, but the arts faced many funding cuts. That is when a friend mentioned that she was going for a master’s degree in library science. I thought about my uncle's commitment to librarianship and decided to pursue it too. Also, my brother Tim was an ICU nurse for 15 years. This gave me insight into how important nurses are in helping patients heal. Working for the Mount Carmel Health Sciences Library blends my uncle and brothers' passions into a very rewarding career.
