Who’s New in the Library — 2017-18
Welcome to our new Library student worker, Katherine Kovalchin. She begins working at the Library this month. All of our student workers are happy to assist you with many things including checking out a book or laptop, accessing a database or basic reference guidance.
Nursing Excellence
Kuddos to our Regional Director of Library Services, Stevo Roksandic, for receiving one of this year’s Mount Carmel College of Nursing Excellence in Nursing Awards. This award recognizes outstanding nurses, nurse leaders, physicians, nurse educators and nursing education advocates within the Mount Carmel Health System who exemplify outstanding practice.
More Study Rooms to Meet the Demand
Your Library will be renovating the Poster and Practice Room by dividing it up into individual study rooms. Poster supplies will remain, as will the hospital bed for you to practice head-to-toe exams. Look for these changes in the next few months.
Library Director Presents at Regional Conference
Stevo Roksandic and Allison Erlinger, former Health Sciences Librarian, will present “Rethink, Redo, Repurpose”: Transforming Library Space to Meet Clients’ Needs at the Midwest Chapter/Medical Library Conference on Sunday, October 15 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Grant Awards
Don Pearson, Library Technology Specialist and Noreen Mulcahy, lead Health Sciences librarian, both received Professional Development Awards from the Greater Midwest Region/National Network of Libraries of Medicine. These funds make it possible for Don and Noreen to attend the Midwest Chapter/Medical Library Association conference that runs Friday, October 13—Monday, October 16 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Ice Cream Social
Although the calendar marked the end of summer on September 21, the weather didn't want to cooperate. With temperatures hovering in the low 90s, many MCCN students were in the mood for something cool. Library staff helped by serving up scoops of sherbet and ice cream.
