Scholarship Awards and Donor Recognition Dinner

On Sept. 10, 2019, more than 230 MCCN students, leadership and donors gathered in the MCCN Auditorium to celebrate nursing education. Donors provided $740,000 in scholarships to more than 200 MCCN students. It was a wonderful gathering to recognize the generosity of our gracious donors who are helping our students pursue their life’s calling of becoming a professional registered nurse.

Interim Director, Graduate Programs

Roxanne Oliver, DNP, RN, APN, FNP-BC, assistant professor, will serve as the interim director of Graduate Programs at MCCN. Dr. Oliver is currently an assistant professor teaching in the Graduate Program at MCCN.

Student Nurses Association of Mount Carmel Meeting Scheduled

The Student Nurses Association of Mount Carmel (SNAM) will meet Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, from noon to 1 p.m. Location TBD.

Ohio Student Nurses Annual Convention

The Ohio Student Nurses Association (OSNA) Annual Convention will take place Saturday, Oct. 5. Please contact Laura Lawrence, BS, RN, student health nurse at llawrence@mccn.edu for more information and/or if you are interested in attending.

Adolescent Vaping Trainings

The Ohio Chapter of American Academy for Pediatrics (AAP) is currently seeking participants for the Adolescent Vaping Trainings in Ohio. A training has been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18, at the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Every day, there is a new and frightening article regarding the risks of vaping and e-cigarette use. Currently, the CDC has recommended that users STOP vaping as a mystery lung disease is being seen across the country, with several deaths resulting from this very serious illness. Unfortunately, many youth are addicted and stopping isn’t always easy. The Ohio AAP and CVS Health have partnered to provide regional trainings across Ohio to help providers and community partners address the epidemic of adolescent e-cigarette use. 2019 Journey to Excellence

Student Nurses Association of Mount Carmel – Lancaster

Achievements: Congratulations Faculty and Staff

Tracy Riley, PhD, APRN-CNS, CNE, professor, has been awarded the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) award for Excellence in Nursing Education. The award will be acknowledged at the ONA Convention in October.

Library Front Desk

The Library welcomes three new Cristo Rey High School students: Erandi Sandoval, Joshua Piedra and Yon Truss. Returning for her second year with us is Fatoumata Kante. Each will spend one day a week at the Library assisting at the circulation desk, answering phones and learning about working in a professional environment. It is all part of Cristo Rey's unique program where every student has a work-study position. Please stop by and greet our dedicated students.
